NBHS Holds 19th Annual Science Olympiad

Over 200 enthusiastic North Babylon High School students participated on February 28th in the 19th Annual Olympiad  which joined together students, parents, and science faculty, as well as building and district administrators, in a highly successful and exciting day filled with science challenges. Student teams roamed from activity to activity as they vied for the first, second, and third place spots in such events as the Chemistry Hunt, Science Smarts/Metric Madness, and Mystery Construction.
The North Babylon High School PTA set up a large breakfast spread for all of the participants and supervisors to enjoy throughout the morning. In between events, teams bent their heads in a meeting of minds as they puzzled through the Brain Teaser packet. Paper airplanes flying in the gym and an exciting egg toss where students created a device to catch an egg at ever-increasing distances were highlights of the day. The day culminated in the Science Bowl where two qualifying teams competed in a quiz bowl-style competition on stage. This was a nail-biting competition between a team of seniors and a team of sophomores that came down to the final question. Seniors Leonard Campanello, Adam Abdelaziz, Alexander Proctor and Jon Roman captured the Science Bowl win. The day was a tremendous success as students smiled their way through a fun-filled, engaging day of science at North Babylon High School.
