Medicare Surcharge (IRMAA)
Members who receive Medicare benefits should be receiving quarterly reimbursement for the cost. This reimbursement should equal what you are actually paying for Medicare. (Depending on your age and income, this amount could differ from member to member). If the two totals are not the same, you must apply to the district for the difference (Medicare Surcharge or IRMAA). You must send a copy of your 1099 form and a copy of the paper from a year ago stating what you would be paying along with a cover letter to the Business Office.
