Art and Music Staff Have "Artful Reading" Instruction

All members of the art and music staff participated in an interactive videoconference with Catherine Rubin of the Center for Teaching and Learning in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 2nd. Joined by staff members from Nassau and Suffolk BOCES, all the music and art teachers in the District explored several children's books, including "Mole Music," "Lily Brown's Paintings," and "Action Jackson." They learned how to incorporate reading techniques such as prediction and picture walks into their everyday music and art lessons and received several lessons to take back into the classroom. Everyone had a great time learning and enjoyed our quick trip to Kentucky...from the Belmont Library!
