Bucket Filling Is Big Hit at Belmont

Belmont's school psychologist, Mrs. Sassoon, talked to the staff and students about the concept of bucket filling. She based her discussion on the book "Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids" by Carol McCloud. Mrs. Sassoon discussed the benefits of filling someone's bucket. The concept is this: we all have our own invisible bucket to carry around. When someone makes us happy, they fill our bucket and their bucket. However, when we are mean or make fun of someone, we have to dip into their bucket and our own. The goal is to fill our buckets, not empty them.
The entire Belmont building pledged to be a bucket filler at school, home, and everywhere they go. The students and staff also signed the pledge and dropped it into the big bucket near the main office. Each child received a bracelet and pencil. The classes will be decorating their classroom door with their class bucket and other decorations. Pictured are Mrs. Sassoon, Ms. Miller and her class.
