Fourth Graders Visit Brookhaven National Lab
All 4th graders in the district visited the Brookhaven National Lab to participate in activities that align with the NYS Elementary Science Core Curriculum K-4 and that also engage them in laboratory activities that prepare them for the State Performance Assessment in June. Students had hands-on experiences with Magnetic Levitation, Potential and Kinetic Energy, and Series and Parallel Circuits. Ms. Ellen Kresic, a teacher at DeLuca, praised the experience by saying, "My class enjoyed the field trip so much...It was perfect for our curriculum and for their age and interest level." Each student wrote a letter describing their experiences at each of the activities, thus providing a perfect cross-curricular application between ELA and Science.
