MGV First Graders Have Fun With Counting Skills

First Graders in Mrs. Kreuscher’s class took part in an exciting way to apply their money counting skills when they worked in pairs and created their own store name and designed signs for their store. Parents generously donated items to sell from pens and pencils, to lizards and balls. Once the price tags were on, the school store began. Mrs. Kreuscher’s students, as well as two other first grade classes, came in to shop, shop, shop. All the children used fake coins and had to count the exact amount of money for each item. Cash registers were ringing and parents volunteered to help oversee each store. All the children did an amazing job and put their money counting skills into a meaningful, real life experience.
