NBTO Gives Friend of Education Award to Community Member
The North Babylon Teachers’ Organization has given the “Friend of Education Award” to Lesly Longmcleod. A mother of three children, Mrs. Longmcleod has been active in the PTA since 1997 and has served as Chairperson at MGV and RMMS and as the RMMS President. Currently she is PTA Council Treasurer.
Mrs. Longmcleod has been a regular attendee at Board workshops and meetings since 2003 and says, “Community involvement is the most important thing we can do for our children so that we are well informed and can advocate for what our children need.” She is certainly an advocate for children and can often be heard asking the tough questions. She says, “We may not always like the answers to our questions or the way things are done, but the only way we can change things is through involvement and showing up. Decisions are made by those who show up.” She not only shows up but is a true “friend of education.” Pictured L to R: NBTO President Mrs. Selina Durio and Mrs. Lesly Longmcleod.
