NBTO Holds Annual Gift Drive For District Children

This year the North Babylon Teachers’ Organization (NBTO) again held its Annual Holiday Gift Drive and helped make the holidays brighter for 239 children from 78 families in need of assistance. The Retirees Chapter of the NBTO also helped by raising $490 which was used to purchase gift cards to local food stores for families in need.

The NBTO gives special thanks to everyone who helped support this cause. For instance, Mrs. Connie Robinson from the district’s Business Office adopted a family, and other Business Office staff also donated and helped buy presents, as did members of Buildings and Grounds and Central Office. Several other community members who reached out and donated presents were Stacks Autobody, Diamond Smiles Dentistry, and Mrs. Fevang and Mrs. Caputo, both parents from Marion G. Vedder. “Cops Who Care” donated turkeys to families at Parliament Place, and at Marion G. Vedder 5 turkeys and trimmings were donated by the American Legion and Lorraine Zieris, a former staff member. The Pizzolla family from Woods Road donated hams to needy Woods Road families, and “Gabby’s Wings of Hope,” an organization run by a kitchen aide at Parliament Place in memory of her daughter, donated $50 supermarket gift cards. Also, PTA member Mrs. DeMatteo donated gift cards from Old Navy.

It was a blessing to be able to help so many families have a more joyous holiday, and the NBTO thanks all NBTO members and everyone else who participated in this holiday drive. Pictured L to R: para Terry Raso, teacher Erica Beal, and para Cathy Passanante from the high school.
