NBTO Raises Over $10,000 for American Cancer Society
The North Babylon Teachers’ Organization has raised over $10,000 for the American Cancer Society, chiefly by participating in the annual “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk at Jones Beach on October 16 and by holding a staff Karaoke Contest in the high school auditorium on October 12. The Retirees Chapter of the NBTO, whose President is Judy Phillips, alone raised $2,700 and donations are still arriving. This year the NBTO raised approximately $3,500 more than last year in spite of the economic downturn. People still want to help others and everyone knows someone who has had breast cancer, including many in the North Babylon community. The NBTO would like to thank everyone who helped in these fundraising endeavors. The generosity of the North Babylon community is commendable.
