NBTO Receives Journalism and Community Service Awards
The North Babylon Teachers’ Organization’s community newsletter, Partners in Education, has received three journalism awards from the New York State United Teachers: 1st Place in General Excellence, 1st Place in Feature Article (congratulations to high school librarian Matt Erickson), and 2nd Place in News Article by Pat Caraway, who is also the Editor.
The NBTO has also received the the Local Community Service Award from NYSUT for the 13th year in a row for such activities as participating in the Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach and raising close to $7,500, holding a holiday Toy/Book Drive for district children, holding two food drives, raising money for the American Cancer Society by selling daffodils, collecting toiletries for the Boys/Girls Club of America, and holding a Soldier Drive to collect articles to send to our men and women serving overseas.
The Public Relations Committee, chaired by Jodi Lee and Jeanne Saeli, has directed all community service activities.
