NB Music, Art, and Theater Holds Fundraiser at Barnes and Noble

North Babylon's Music and Art Department held a fundraiser at Barnes and Noble on November 22nd to fund NB students who will be performing at Carnegie Hall in February. Under the direction of Dr. Kim Lowenborg-Coyne, the Music, Art, and Drama departments all participated in the program attended by a myriad of parents, children, and educators. Every school in the district participated and showcased talented musicians, artists, and theater students. Performances were greeted with enthusiastic applause.
Ms. Verderosa from William E. DeLuca was there with members of the DeLuca 5th Grade Orchestra and a student, Brett, who performed solo on trombone, as well as a Parliament Place student, Richard, who performed piano solos. Mrs. Lora Dellosso was there from Marion G. Vedder with students who had great fun presenting "The Merry Sounds of MGV." Mrs. Pam Basile brought students from Woods Road and Belmont, and Mrs. Christina Henderson directed members of the very talented High School Select Choir. Mr. John Lazarek presented and accompanied the DeLuca Carolers, and Mrs. Kristin Lombardo directed members of the Robert Moses Chamber Orchestra and presented duets from the 6th Grade Orchestra. Needless to say, there were many proud parents in attendance.
One of the highlights of the event was a dramatic reading of "Auntie Claus" by William E. DeLuca Principal Norann McManus. Another highlight was performances by the HS Theatre Company, directed by David Signorelli. These students obviously had fun presenting skits from beloved books such as "Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar," "Stellaluna," "Curious George Goes to the Movies," and "The Giving Tree." The audience was very appreciative.
Interesting and impressive artwork from the classes of Tobi Shinnick, Karen Kennely, and Renee Blank was also on display.
