PTA Bestows Awards at Founders Day Celebration

At the Founders Day Celebration on Feb. 16, the North Babylon PTAs honored individuals for their exemplary work on behalf of children in the district. Recipients of the Eileen Martin Unsung Hero Award are Karen Kennely (High School), Carol Marx (RMMS), Ken Polese and Effie Kachurka (Belmont), Stacey Losco and Laura Dellosso (MGV), Lori Urban (Parliament), Vivian Brown and Stella Shank (DeLuca), and Carol Gray (Woods Road). Debbie Epifane received the Lee Tatti Award.
Council President Ms. Patti Louden, Superintendent of Schools Pat Godek, Board of Education Trustee Barbara Leun, and Councilwoman Jacklyn Gordon from the Town of Babylon all spoke. Laura Castain was the Council Founders Day Chair in charge of the event. Adding pomp and pageantry to the occasion and opening it on the right note was the RMMS Marching Band and Color Guard. Brownie Troop # 956 presented the flag.
The PTA has been in existence for 114 years and is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation. Members of the North Babylon PTAs certainly carry the historical banner in their indefatigable advocacy for children and in the many enrichment activities they sponsor in the schools. Congratulations to all the awards recipients and a special thanks to all PTA members for all that you do for North Babylon students.
