Parliament Place Celebrates Earth Day
Parliament Place celebrated Earth Day with a week of fun and educational activities. Students read books about "Going Green," decorated grocery bags for King Kullen, wore green to school, created Earth Day crafts, planted trees, and had a very special assembly about "Going Green." First graders in the classes of Mrs. Henn and Mr. Jackson had fun planting for Arbor Day. To conclude Earth Week, Mrs. Dooley’s first grade class planted trees by Parliament Place’s playground to beautify the school grounds even further. The class spoke about the importance of planting to our Earth, home to many living things. The class will care for these trees by watering them and they will observe and monitor the rate of growth using different measuring tools until June. It’s all the subjects wrapped up into one.
Mrs. Widecki's first grade class in Parliament Place Elementary school celebrated Earth Day by turning trash into treasure! They created a bulletin board by using some wrappers and juice pouches they would have otherwide thrown out during snacktime and learned how wonderful it is to recycle. The children also participated in reusing newspapers by creating paper mache earths and had a great time being green this Earth Day.
The children had a wonderful time and plan on staying GREEN!
