RMMS Students Hold Mock Trial

Students in Mrs. Bedell's English 8 Enriched classes know how to argue… their case that is. They recently brought literature to life by "prosecuting" characters from "The Pigman" by Paul Zindel for crimes committed. They formed legal teams and assigned duties for both the prosecution and defense. Student lawyers examined and cross examined witnesses from the novel, using textual "evidence" and props to represent evidence from the book. Other class members acted as jurors, complete with a jury foreman, to render a verdict.

The students shined in this academic endeavor, impressing not only their teacher but also the building administrators who were invited to observe the courtroom proceedings. Additionally, one class of students held their own debates and showed great determination in researching their topics to present persuasive arguments. Watch out parents, these teens really know how to make a point!
