William E. DeLuca Science Students Explore Density

Teacher Ellen Kresic embraces science and strives to create meaningful, hands-on lessons for her students at William E. DeLuca Elementary School. This was evident in her laboratory activity as students explored the concept of density. They were given various liquids and an opportunity to work as a group to find how density affects where the liquids settled in a cup. Objects were introduced to incorporate the concept of buoyancy as it relates to density. The fourth grade students were engaged throughout the learning experience which extended to the next day as they took the time for all of their liquids and objects to settle at various points in the vertical column of their cup.
