HS Earth Science Students Study Weather

Teacher Renee Bandes is always searching for new ways to inspire and educate her students at NBHS. Utilizing available technology and library services, Ms. Bandes was able to bring educators from the Liberty Science Center to North Babylon through videoconferencing. Ms. Bandes’ classes spent two periods in the school library, where they participated in an interactive discussion which included an analysis of weather maps and a lesson on frontal formation. Students used balloons, toilet paper rolls and aluminum cans to simulate how static charges build up between the base of a cloud and the ground to form lightning.
