NBHS Holds Renaissance Faire

North Babylon High School held a Renaissance Faire on May 15th, and it was lots of fun with students and teachers dressed in period costumes. The brainchild of Assistant Principal Mrs. Elizabeth Walsh-Bulger, the Faire had arts and crafts, games, food and drink, musical performances, and a Shakespearean play. There was a game area where people could make their own tiara or crown, create sand art, make a necklace, or get an impermanent Medieval tattoo. People could be seen walking around munching on turkey legs, pickles on a stick, caramel apples, and watermelon and watching jousting and games being played such as the egg balance, donut fishing, and an apple toss.
Students from Mr. David Signorelli's Theatre IV class performed dramatic events throughout the afternoon such as a Medieval wedding ceremony and jousting, as well as excerpts from the plays of William Shakespeare. The Madrigals performed musical selections, and drama students presented an abbreviated version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" on the Main Stage.
The Renaissance Faire was an pleasant way to spend a lazy, sunny afternoon enjoying the talents of well over 60 North Babylon students who had spent considerable time and effort creating a Renaissance atmosphere.
