NBHS Music Theory Class II Makes Musical Magic in Room 404B

There's something very creative going on in Room 404B at North Babylon High School. This is the unofficial Mac Lab that the Music Theory II class has been working in with their teacher, Frank Rizzo. Their goal is to compose an original composition for at least six instruments and write at least 32 measures in a score format. What started out as a Final Exam project in theory has turned into a quest for the musical grail for each one of these students. Some students plan to record live instruments tracks into the computers, while others want to write it out in notation software and have the computer play it back. When everything is done, their final work can be mixed down to an mp3 in iTunes and thrown into an ipod or shared with anyone. Mr. Rizzo remarks that "by creating their own music and using technology as a tool, these students can stretch their imagination beyond anything written in a textbook!" Maybe the next song you buy on iTunes will come from Room 404B at NBHS!
