NBHS Students Participate in Science Challenge
Three North Babylon High School students--Shanelle Riccio, Kristin Meier, and Elijah Arbouin--recently participated in the Protein Modeling Challenge hosted by Stony Brook University and OSI Pharmaceuticals. The three North Babylon students were able to use cutting edge computer programs (Jmol viewer and PDB) to build three-dimensional "mini tuber" models which were entered into competition judged by OSI and Stony Brook scientists. As they experimented with proteins, students also were able to interact with OSI scientists throughout the competition and had an invaluable hands-on educational experience.
