NB Zone Award Winners Named
T.Q. Grant and Emily Ude have received the 2011 Suffolk County Zone Award this year for their outstanding achievement in physical education, scholarship, character, and leadership. Both T.Q. and Emily are richly deserving of this award.
T.Q. is a young man who has embraced the meaning of being a leader in the classroom and on the field. Academically he maintains over an 88 average with a physical education average of 95. Both his teachers and coaches describe T.Q. as a hard working young man who puts others before himself. His leadership qualities, work ethic and positive outlook on life put him at the head of the pack. He is a member of the football and track teams where he is captain of both. He has participated on the Academic Team and is a member of the Young Men’s Empowerment Group and National Honor Society. Also the recipient of the Cheryl DiGinero Award for Humanitarianism, T.Q. is a well rounded individual who has certainly earned the 2011 Zone Award.
Emily is a very positive individual who defines what it takes to be a leader. Academically she maintains over a 95 average and is ranked 9th in a class of 394. Her physical education average is 100. Her teachers and coaches describe Emily as being a leader both in the classroom and out on the field. As a role model for other students, Emily is a perfect example of what North Babylon represents. She is the Captain of the Girls’ Soccer Team and has earned 1st Team All-State and All-East Region honors. She is a member of the Honor Society, Concert Choir and Leader’s Club. She is also the President of the Senior Class. Because of her superior academic and athletic achievements, leadership, and social skills Emily has truly earned the 2011 Zone Award.
