RMMS Helps Others

Robert Moses Middle School has been busy helping others, first with a huge food drive and then with a fundraiser for Haiti.

Holding A Huge Food Drive

The staff and students at Robert Moses Middle School have continued their commitment to community service by participating in the 92.3 NOW Canned Food Drive. Schools across Long Island joined RMMS students in collecting records amounts of nonperishable foods to feed local families. The school that collected the most food would receive an in-school Justin Bieber concert. No one was more excited than their Principal, Kathleen Hartnett, although she did acknowledge that it would be a security nightmare. She was very proud when the RMMS family donated a record 3,171 pounds of food but another school had even more. Even though students were a bit disappointed, they felt proud of their efforts when the Harry Chapin-Long Island Cares organization picked up the boxes of food they had collected to distribute to local food pantries. Well done, Moses!

Raising Funds for Haiti

Students and staff at he Robert Moses Middle School were touched by the plight of the Haitian people in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake and they wanted to help. With large water jugs, they collected change during lunch and rapidly collected over $1,000 which they donated to the American Friends Service Committee for the Haitian people.
