HS Technology/Business Department Offers College Credits At Reduced Costs for Students

In conjunction with SUNY Farmingdale University, North Babylon High School’s Technology and Business Department offers college credits at a reduced cost in a program called “University in the High School.” This program offers a number of courses totaling 27 college credits which are transferable between all SUNY (State University of New York) schools. The fee is $140.00 per course for 3 credits. For a part-time student at Farmingdale, the course would cost approximately $900.00 so this is a substantial savings. A student enrolled in the free or reduced lunch program is eligible for a reduced tuition rate of $70.00 per course with proof of eligibility. According to high school teacher Tara Lehnert, this is an excellent way to earn college credit while still in high school at a minimal cost. You can view this program on the high school’s website at http://www.northbabylonschools.net or call the Business and Technology Department at (631) 620-7187.
