North Babylon Little Doctors Save Lives

“The Sixth Annual Little Doctors Blood Drive at Woods Road and William E. DeLuca Elementary Schools in North Babylon was the most successful one to date,“ says Science and Mathematics Director Alison Offer-Celentano, who also says that “there was a record number of donors as well as eager fourth graders on hand to provide assistance.”
Prior to the Blood Drive, all fourth graders received instruction from a Long Island Blood Services on the components of blood and the necessity for donations. They learned that every donation of blood potentially saves three lives. This was the theme as these little doctors, clad in hospital scrubs, greeted all donors and walked them through every step of the process. Students gave each donor a “Thank You For Saving Three Lives” card which they had made. The drive at the two schools yielded 86 donations, saving a total of 258 lives!
