Parliament Place Studies Native Americans
While studying the Algonquians, Ms. Manning's fourth grade class made their very own wampum, crafted dugout canoes out of Ivory Soap, and authored and illustrated flip books about the Native American Tribe. The children had a great time experiencing the lives of the Iroquois as they composed a very special song and dance about each of the Five Nations and the Great Law of Peace. Students also created t-shirts and re-created a council meeting in their classroom. Pictured are Ms. Manning and some of her students proudly showing off their wampum bracelets.
