RMMS Presents Liberty Bell to Town of Babylon
On December 7th, students from Robert Moses Middle School presented a lovely 3 foot by 4 foot ceramic Liberty Bell to Steve Bellone, Town of Babylon Supervisor, to be hung in Town Hall. The inscription on the piece of art read: "To those men and women from the Town of Babylon that served our country in both peace and war. Presented by the Robert Moses Middle School Class of 2009-2010."
As a former North Babylon graduate, Mr. Bellone told the students that he accepted the Liberty Bell with great pride, and he told them that the presentation was especially significant since it was on Pearl Harbor Day.
The ceramic Liberty Bell was the idea of social studies teacher Mr. Dale Walden who suggested the idea to art teacher Ms. Orrigo. She and her students, along with some students from the class of Ms. June Maggi, carried out the project.
Students from Ms. Orrigo's class who worked on the mosaic are: Candice Cannone, Christie Conk, Bryan Dvong, Kevin Herrera, Dominic Knecht, Scott Langdon, Steven Lenzy, Jeff Leonard, Sarrah Lewis, Joseph Lozada, Imani Muhammad, Michael Pereira, Kingderlie St. Jean, Brianni Smith, and Angad Sraon.
