The Little Doctors Are A Big Hit in North Babylon

The Little Doctors program was a big success this year. The North Babylon School District teamed up with Long Island Blood Services to deliver valuable lessons on the function, components and importance of blood in our bodies. Blood drives took place in four of the five elementary schools with fourth graders on hand in their "scrubs" to assist blood donors through the process. Students who volunteered truly enjoyed the experience of helping to save lives in their community and they thanked those who came in to give blood.
The elementary schools were able to collect a total of 63 units of blood which will help save the lives of 189 patients on Long Island. Special thanks go to all of the elementary school principals, our LI Blood Services Account Manager Doreen Fiscina, and onsite coordinators, Loretta Nieves, Deborah Serino, Nancy Cusumano, and Michael Ierardi for their assistance in the setup and execution of the program and blood drives.
