HS Band Performs at Newsday’s Marching Band Festival

At the 46th Annual Newsday Marching Band Festival, the North Babylon Marching Band performed on October 22nd, 2008, and highlighted the classic music of Disney’s “Fantasia.” Under the field direction of Kourtney Krause and Alyssa Makely, the band opened with an inspiring performance of “Toccata and Fugue in D minor, written by J.S. Bach. Led by Kickline Captains Tracey Inners and Christina Cella, the band  then highlighted the North Babylon Kickline on flags in “The Sorcerer's Apprentice.” They closed the show with a beautiful performance of Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite,” featuring the North Babylon Kickline and Officers Matt Repetto on trumpet and Michael Madrigal on baritone horn.
As usual, the band gave a near perfect, spirited and professional performance, thanks to talented band members, the superb leadership of Band Directors Frank Rizzo and Jay Orig and Kickline Advisors Laura Gmelch and Nicole Raymond, and the marching drill design created by Frank Rizzo.
This year’s student officers are Jessica James, Catherine Stamm, Jackie Grimaldi, Ashley Regusa, Kari Blatz, Jillian Manzo, Tom Gonyou, Alex Proctor and Lenny Campanello.
The band's pictures and performance can be seen on Newsday.com and Channel 612 on iO interactive cablevision.
